Bruges will form the backdrop for the start of the Tour of Flanders on Sunday 2 April 2023 and Aalter can also prepare itself for a passage of Flanders’ Finest. The municipality will sparkle as Dorp van de Ronde for three editions, in 2023, 2025 and 2027.

The passage of Flanders’ Finest will commemorate Marcel Buysse, among others. “The rider from Lotenhulle won the second edition of the Tour of Flanders in 1914, after which he made a triumphant journey through the region,” said Alderman of Event Management Dirk De Smul. “His return to Lotenhulle brought rarely seen joy. The intention is to repeat that in 2023, 2025 and 2027.” On Saturday 1 April 2023, a day before the Tour of Flanders, thousands of cycling tourists will be pass through Aalter during We Ride Flanders.
