Female cyclists at the heart of the second edition of Flandrienne
On Saturday 22 August, Flandrienne presented by Lidl, an event by Peloton, will once again bring together women with a passion for cycling in Ghent. At the largest cycling event exclusively for women, participants will enjoy an amazing day full of sport, experience and connection.
After a successful first edition, with more than 1,000 participants, Flandrienne presented by Lidl continues to grow as an event for female cyclists. The initiative by Peloton aims to encourage more women to take up cycling while also strengthening their presence in cycling tours. The strong growth of women’s cycling supports this ambition and confirms the success of the concept. Belgian professional cyclist Mieke Docx is among the initiative’s ambassadors.
Flandrienne deliberately targets a broad audience and welcomes women of all levels. Both beginners and experienced riders will find a route tailored to them. Participants can set their own pace or join a guided group ride with The Female Cycling Tribe, the community of ambassador Elke Bleyaert. “Amazing things happen when women ride together,” Bleyaert emphasizes.
With start and finish in Ghent, participants will head towards the Flemish Ardennes. The organization offers three different routes that vary in distance and difficulty, so everyone can find a suitable challenge. The focus is not on athletic performance, but mainly on the experience and discovering the surroundings. This combination makes Flandrienne more than a traditional cycling tour.
