No Flemish classics this spring, we've known that for a while. Moreover, cycling outside in a group is no longer allowed everywhere. ‘Flanders Classics by Bkool’ has come up with a digital alternative where recreational cyclists can explore the finals of Gent-Wevelgem, Dwars door Vlaanderen and the Tour of Flanders in group rides.
It is generally known that the Holy cycling week with Gent-Wevelgem in Flanders Fields, Dwars door Vlaanderen and the Tour of Flanders will not take place, now that the Covid-19 virus is forcing the government to take the necessary measures to prevent spread. Group rides with cycling friends are no longer possible for some time now and cycling tours for recreational cyclists, linked to the professional races, have already been cancelled a few weeks ago.
From the rollers or smart trainers it is still possible. A collaboration between Flanders Classics and Bkool gives everyone the chance to experience the race at home. Because of the great success of the online competition ‘Flanders Classics by Bkool’ we decided to organize some group rides on the virtual platform of Bkool.
On Sunday the 29th of March we will defy the Baneberg and Kemmelberg, during the Gent-Wevelgem Group Ride. On Wednesday April 1st during the Dwars door Vlaanderen Group Ride we will have the Knokteberg, Varent, Vossenhol, Holstraat, Nokereberg and Herlegemstraat on the menu. On Saturday 4 April you can join in for the final of the Flanders Finest over the Kruisberg, Oude Kwaremont and Paterberg in the Tour of Flanders Group Ride.
If you feel like exploring the finals of the Flemish classics in this unique way, do the following:
Multiple pelotons will take the start. Join us on 29/03 (morning), 1/04 (afternoon) and 4/04 (morning).
Whoever joins in has a chance to win a Flanders Classics cycling jersey signed by Alexander Kristoff, Kirsten Wild, Mathieu van der Poel or Alberto Bettiol!
See you online!
